Not unusual, there are several hacks of exchanges every year, this is a smaller one. I have funds on Binance but they are fine despite the hack. Curiously apparently banks are also targets of attempted hacks daily all over the world but we never hear of it, and they do sometimes succeed. The cryptocurrency space is quite high risk, and always has been. It is recommended never to leave your crypto on the exchange, only the amount you are trading with.

I know 0 credible use-cases for blockchain technology in the traditional markets. Those that pose themselves as "blockchain solutions for supply-chains blah-blah-blah" are just hype-train riders that are either stupid or lying because it has nothing to do with decentralization of power, openness, transparency and trust, it's just replicated databases that make little sense to me. The real breakthroughs will come when more people grow up and start taking more responsibility, which is not happening soon. But I believe we're getting there, the masses are already "waking up" after being screwed so many times, it's a first solid step. Our goal as U°OS team is to provide the tools to help that adoption happen, to make it so that everybody's grandma understands why this whole thing is important and is able to use those tools without special knowledge. Essentially we're the ones creating Windows 1.0 in the era of DOS and touchscreens in the era of flipping cellphones.

And by the way the word "infancy" is very right from the social and psychological perspective here :)

It's a fact that databases have been given a fundamental role in our ever-expanding digital society: it is the basis for all business and planning processes and customer contacts. That is also the challenge: every company has his own ledger that isn't linked with processes outside the organization. In current ecosystems of processes between different stakeholders, there is mutual and manual coordination. This takes time, money and is error-prone. It is not without reason that the port of Rotterdam has started a number of blockchain initiatives that give many parties at the same time insight into the status of goods and associated payment conditions. Nowadays, many parties are involved in a container ride from China to Rotterdam. Organizations that all perform their logistical actions separately from each other. Thanks to blockchain, agreements can be digitally recorded in advance and the status of container shipments can be kept up to date with automatic payment transactions. To me, this is more than just replicating databases. It’s a blockchain solution that ensures trust, transparency and efficiency throughout the entire chain. What I fully agree with is that many are not yet ready to take more responsibility for their own data, etc. We have become addicted to user-frienliness, to technology that's available free of charge. We still don't ask a lot of questions about the technology we use. Slowly but surely we became a customer instead of a user. So yes, infancy is the correct term here.

It's all about format: — for articles and long reads, we have publication format in which you can concentrate on a text. — for notes/annoncements and other things, we have posts which you can scroll from one to another in a quick way. So basically that's it :)

In my view there are three things that blockchain can do: protecting data, transferring assets and imposing rules (via smart contracts). Blockchain allows us to arrange the above matters without a trusted authority. What can blockchain not do? In the event that data is registered in the blockchain, the blockchain network can not verify the correctness of this data, unless all data for that verification is already on the blockchain. A blockchain network can thus verify whether a Bitcoin transaction is valid, but does not know whether your marriage contract or a diploma registered on the blockchain is actually correct, valid or true. Suppose a smart contract automatically pays you an amount if your flight is delayed, then information about the flights must be provided to the smart contract. The smart contract cannot verify whether the supplied information is correct. Incorrect input thus results in erroneous output. A blockchain is not necessarily a source of truth, as it is sometimes, somewhat religiously, expressed. Of course, the same information can also be supplied by various parties. As more parties say the same independently, we have a higher degree of confidence in the correctness of the information. So that could be a sort of "strong enough signal". But the collective validation of external supplied information has actually nothing to do with blockchain.
