User Tutorial VI: U°Community interface instructions on decentralized communities (DACs)

Here in this tutorial we characterize decentralized communities (DACs).

You will learn how to use U°Community interface to:

  • create a new community
  • join, leave or admin an existing community
  • create publications, short posts and comments in the community
  • add articles to a community discussion board

Part I: Create, manage and join communities

How to create a new community:

Step 1: Log in to your U°Community account, using your Username and Brainkey.

Step 2: Click on your account icon at the upper-right corner of the interface webpage.

Step 3: Click on the Create Community button in the drop-down menu to get to your Account Settings page.

Step 4: In the new pop-up window fill in the information about the new community: add cover photo, emblem, community name, community link name, board members, about info, contacts, links to external resources about it and partner communities. Click Create.

Step 5: In order to edit community profile, including the list of administrators and other information, go to the community page and click round pen Edit button at the top left corner of the community interface. Click Save Changes.

Note: communities can not be deleted.

How to join a community:

Step 1: Log in to your U°Community account, using your Username and Brainkey.

Step 2: Click on your account icon at the upper-right corner of the interface webpage.

Step 3: Click on the Overview button at the top-left of the main platform webpage.

Step 4: Click on the Communities tab.

Step 5: Click on Fresh tab category to access the list of all communities, sorted by date of creation.

You can also find interesting communities in the Trending, Hot and Top categories.

Step 6: Click on the community, that you would like to join.

Step 7: Click the Join button on the community webpage.

Now you are a member of a chosen community and it will be added to the list of your communities.

How to leave a community:

Step 1: Log in to your U°Community account, using your Username and Brainkey.

Step 2: Click on your account icon at the upper-right corner of the interface webpage.

Step 3: Click on the community name in the community list My communities.

Step 4: Click on Joined button to leave the community.

How to become an administrator of the community:

Step 1: Log in to your U°Community account, using your Username and Brainkey.

Step 2: Click on your account icon at the upper-right corner of the interface webpage.

Step 3: Click on the community name in the community list My communities.

Step 4: Write a short post with a request to be added to the administration list. Тhe owner of the community can add you in response.

How to leave the administration board of the community:

Step 1: Log in to your U°Community account, using your Username and Brainkey.

Step 2: Click on your account icon at the upper-right corner of the interface webpage.

Step 3: Click on the community name in the community list My communities.

Step 4: Write a short post with a request to be deleted from the administration list. Тhe owner of the community can remove you in response.

Part II: Publications, posts, discussion board and comments in the community

How to post in the community:

Step 1: Log in to your U°Community account, using your Username and Brainkey

Step 2: Click on your account icon at the upper-right corner of the interface webpage.

Step 3: Click on the New publication button in the drop-down menu to get to a new window for your publication.

Step 4: In the pop-up publication window you can enter your text, edit it, using interface functionality (2 types of headers, 2 types of lists, links, italic, bold or underlined text and strike through). You can add either a photo or a link to the video by clicking on the Plus button and choosing option, that you need.

Step 5: At the top of the pop-up publication window choose to publish your post in one of the communities that you belong to.

Step 6: Click Publish and the system will ask you to choose a front picture for your publication from your computer. Choose one, that you would like, and press Publish. Now your publication is completed and available in the community. The post will also be available in the main feed on the platform.

How to edit a posted community publication:

Step 1: Log in to your U°Community account, using your Username and Brainkey.

Step 2: Click on your account icon at the upper-right corner of the interface webpage.

Step 3: Click on the community name, that the publication belongs to, and find it in the community feed.

Step 4: At the left hand-side of the publication header click at the Edit button.

Step 5: Edit your publication and click Publish. The system will show you a preview window of the publication. In this window you can edit the header of the post and the front picture.

Step 6: Choose the front picture, check the header name of the post and click Publish.

How to create a short post in the community:

Step 1: Log in to your U°Community account, using your Username and Brainkey

Step 2: Click on your account icon at the upper-right corner of the interface webpage.

Step 3: Click on the community name in the community list My communities.

Step 4: Click on the Hey, what’s new window at the top of the community webpage to add a short quick post. You can add a photo or a video link here as well by clicking on the Plus button. Complete the post by clicking on the small arrow at the lower right-hand corner of the post window.

How to add a publication to a discussion:

Note: Up to 10 publications can be added to the discussion board in the community by any member of it:

Step 1: Log in to your U°Community account, using your Username and Brainkey

Step 2: Click on your account icon at the upper-right corner of the interface webpage.

Step 3: Click on the community name in the community list My communities.

Step 4: You can:

  • add a link to an existing community article — click Add existing community article, fill in the link to it and click the arrow to post it to the discussion board
  • create a new publication and add it to a discussion board — click Create new article, fill it in (see the instructions above on how to make a publication) and click Publish to make a new publication and add it to the discussion board at the same time.

How to leave a comment and repost the post in the community: you can add a comment in the comment section of any post and click Share button or a Copy Link button to share the post within the platform in your personal feed or anywhere on the internet, respectively.

How to upvote/downvote post or comment in the community: in the lower right-hand corner of any publication or comment in the community you will see two arrows: click on one of them to upvote or downvote a post or comment.
